We’re Looking for Volunteer Leaders!
The Kentucky Chapter is currently preparing for the 2018 Officer Elections. Below you will find a brief description of all open executive board positions. The President, VP of Finance, and Director of Marketing & Communications roles are open. However, if you are interested in a role that is not open, you can shadow the current officer with the intent to segue into next year’s elections. Executive board members are always in need of committee members to support their work.
If you are interested in one of these volunteer roles, please send a short description of which role you are interested in, a bio, and a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: 2019 KYBlackMBA Officer Elections. Additionally, members can submit nominations via the same process. All chapter officers must be NBMBAA members and will be subject to a background check. The application deadline is December 7, 2018 at midnight.
President – The President shall serve as the chief executive officer of the Chapter by developing goals and objectives for the Chapter are aligned with the NBMBAA mission statement. Vice President, Finance – For the 2019-2020 term the main objective of this role will be to establish a sustainable financial reporting framework and structure. To this end, a strategic plan and budget for long term sustainability will be required by the end of Q1 2019. Additionally, this role will require the establishment of a committee. The current VP of Finance will still be engaged in 2019 to assist as needed and act as the first committee person. Director of Marketing and Communications – This person shall take full ownership of all chapter marketing and communications, which includes website, email and snail mail newsletters, social media, public relations, digital media, traditional media, print advertising, and event marketing for the 2019-2020 term. As this is a large scope of responsibility, this person will be required to provide a strategic plan and budget for marketing and communications by the end of Q1 2019. Officers Who Need Committee Members
Vice President, Operations – The primary objective of this role for the 2019-2020 term will be to implement process improvements in the operations of the Chapter. This includes project management, event operations, officer elections, travel logistics, and application processes. As this is a large scope of responsibility, this person will be required to provide a strategic plan and budget for operations by the end of Q1 2019. Vice President, Administration – For the 2019-2020 term the main objective of this role will be to increase chapter membership. To this end, a strategic plan and budget for increased membership will be required by the end of Q1 2019. Additionally, this role will require the establishment of a committee. Most notably, his knowledge of salary negotiation has helped hundreds of business professionals he has advised in his career.
In his current role with Haslam College of Business at University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Pedro leads the strategic branding of MBA and MS Business Analytics programs with Fortune 500 companies. He also provides professional development workshops to the MBA and MSBA students on career planning topics.

KY Black MBA Member Scholarship
**All applicants must be a member of the KY Chapter of the NBMBAA to apply.
The KY Black MBA Member Scholarship is a single $1,000 scholarship to be announced in December 2018.
The scholarship deadline is Nov 30, 2018. Although applicants do NOT have to be matriculating in an MBA program to be eligible for this scholarship, they must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university. Also, applicants must be members of the National Black MBA Association – Kentucky Chapter. If you are not a member, you can join via https://nbmbaa.org/registration/. Current and past executive board members of the National Black MBA Association – Kentucky Chapter are not eligible for this scholarship.
