Chapter History
The National Black MBA Association Kentucky Chapter was originally established as the Louisville Chapter. In 1995, a reception was held in collaboration with the National Black MBA Association National Headquarters to begin forming an official presence in Louisville, Kentucky. A core group of five professionals recognized the need for an organization that would support Black professionals in achieving their educational and career goals. In May 1999, the Louisville Chapter received full chapter status. By the end of that year, membership had grown to forty-eight professionals across the state.
Since its founding, the Chapter has remained committed to promoting intellectual and economic advancement for African Americans throughout the Commonwealth. Through strategic programs and community engagement, the Chapter has partnered with organizations such as the University of Louisville, Metro United Way, ADP, and Humana Incorporated to deliver impactful initiatives in professional development and entrepreneurship.
In 2000, the Chapter hosted the National Black MBA Association Regional Conference. The Kentucky Leaders of Tomorrow program was re-launched in 2014 to support the development of emerging leaders. In both 2015 and 2016, the Chapter received the Metro United Way Black Male Achievement Grant. As membership expanded across the state, the Chapter officially adopted the name Kentucky Chapter in 2014. Today, the Executive Board continues to grow its impact and remains focused on statewide engagement, leadership development, and economic empowerment.
